This page lists the cookies Parikshafal and its partners set, what each category is for, how long they last, and exactly how to switch the optional ones off. Nothing here is required reading to use the site — but it should all be here if you want it.
What cookies are
A cookie is a small text file a website asks your browser to store. It lets the site recognise your browser on a later page or a later visit. “Similar technologies” means things that do the same job by a different mechanism — local storage, session storage and tracking pixels. This policy covers all of them.
The cookies this site uses
| Category | What it does | Typical lifetime |
|---|---|---|
| Strictly necessary | Keep the site secure and working — routing, load balancing and basic abuse protection. Set by us and by our hosting provider. | Session to 12 months |
| Preference | Remember small choices such as a dismissed notice, so you are not shown the same message on every page. | Up to 12 months |
| Analytics | Count visits and see which pages and papers are used, in aggregate. Used to decide what to publish next. | Up to 24 months |
| Advertising | Set by Google and other advertising partners to serve ads, cap how often you see the same ad, and measure performance. | Up to 24 months |
Only the strictly necessary category is required for the site to work. Everything else is optional, and where consent is legally required it is only set after you have given it.
Third-party cookies
Advertising and analytics cookies are set by third parties rather than by us, which means those companies — not Parikshafal — control them. The main ones are:
- Google AdSense — serves the ads that fund the site. Third-party vendors including Google use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this or other websites.
- Google Analytics — aggregate traffic measurement, where enabled.
Google explains how it uses data from partner sites at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
Opting out of advertising cookies
- Turn off personalised ads from Google at google.com/settings/ads.
- Opt out of many vendors at once at aboutads.info/choices or optout.networkadvertising.org.
- In the EEA and UK, use youronlinechoices.eu.
- Block Google Analytics entirely with the opt-out browser add-on.
Managing cookies in your browser
Every major browser lets you see, block and delete cookies. Blocking all cookies will not break Parikshafal — you can still read and download everything — but ads you see will be less relevant and some preferences will not be remembered.
- Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Third-party cookies.
- Safari: Settings → Privacy → Manage Website Data.
- Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data.
- Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions.
- Android / iOS: the same options appear under the browser app's privacy settings.
Changes to this policy
As we add or remove services, the cookies set on this site change with them, and this page is updated accordingly. The date at the top is always the current version. For the wider picture of what we collect and why, read the Privacy Policy.
